Greece Legalises Same-Sex Marriage
Congrats to all the Greek gays! Greece has been the next country to legalise same sex marriage and allow the legal adoption of children following a historic vote in parliament that the Greek Prime Minister described as a step to "abolish a serious inequality". While the Orthodox Church have opposed and protested the move (apparently it would “corrupt the homeland’s social cohesion”), this landmark move makes Greece the first Christian-Orthodox country to legalise same-sex marriage, the 15th EU member state to legalise it and the 35th country worldwide.
